PROBUS Club of the Gateway

A Message From Bob McNair: October is Probus Month

Good day, Presidents of the10 Collingwood Probus Clubs,

As you know, October is Probus Month all across Canada. I applied again this year to our Town Council and have received the following information:

  • The Town Council of Collingwood will proclaim on October 1st that “October is Probus Month in Collingwood";
  • There will be a Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, October 7th at 1:15 pm at the Flag Pole on the west side of our Town’s Library;
  • The Clock Tower at our Town Hall will be lit nightly in ”Probus Purple” for approximately one week.

I ask that you inform your Club Members at your September Meeting about this information and, if possible, place on/in your Website/Newsletter.

You are invited to attend the Flag Raising Ceremony and hopefully many of your club members will also attend.

Please be at the Library by 1pm, at the latest, as the ceremony will begin punctually at 1:15 regardless of weather conditions. It will probably conclude shortly after 1:30. We have, in the past, taken photos of the attendees to this special Flag Raising Ceremony. Our Flag measures 3 feet by 6 feet. It is white with the PROBUS  Logo “P” and the words in Probus Purple,

                      PROBUS CLUBS
                                OF
                      COLLINGWOOD

During the last several years our Mayor will read the Proclamation at the Flag Raising Ceremony. Many Town Councillors have also attended annually.

I have also invited PROBUS Canada’s Ontario District 7 Director, Martin Buscher. Martin is also the Vice President of PROBUS Canada.

I hope your Club has also planned some special event(s) to celebrate Probus Month.

Sincerely, Bob MacNair
