UPDATE: The Observatory visit has been confirmed for today, Wednesday, July 17th.
Join us for an evening under the stars! The visit will start with a short presentation given by an on-site supervisor. After dark, we will able to look through the mini telescope for views of the moon, planets, double-stars and more. There may be members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada present with their telescopes as well and we may be able to look at several other objects of interest. The dates were chosen with an almost full moon and bright planets to be seen.
Scheduling flexibility is required as we need to have clear skies for best viewing. We will need to monitor the weather closely before confirming the exact evening. If you register for this event, you will need to be available on the evenings of July 16, 17 and 18. The event will only take place on one of these evenings.
On Tuesday, July 16 around mid day, the Observatory staff will check the weather forecast and decide whether to proceed that evening, or postpone to Wednesday, July 17. The same will occur on Wednesday, July 17 with a rescheduling made to Thursday, July 18 if needed. If Thursday, July 18 is cloudy, we will still proceed and do a tour of the facilities and observe whatever we can. You will be emailed on the day of the event to confirm the "go ahead" or "no go" for that day.
The cost for this event is $17.00. 25 members are able to attend. Registration opens June 18th.
You will register initially only to reserve your spot. Once we have confirmed 25 people to attend, you will receive an email with an invoice for $17.00. When that is paid, you are fully registered to attend.
Please join the waitlist if the event is full. We have tentatively booked an evening in August if there is interest.
For any questions about this event, please contact organizer Linda Granger.
